This just in (news to me): that diamond-studded knurled bit on the edge of the focus ring of your Ikonta is actually threaded!
At least on my Ikonta 521/2 (not Super), with 10.5cm f/3.5 Tessar, any bog-standard 40.5mm threaded accessory will screw right onto the front of the lens, clean and smooth!
What this means is: easy lens hood solution!
* get any bog-standard 40.5mm collapsible rubber lens hood
* pop the rubber off the mounting ring
* re-install the rubber "backwards" on the mounting ring
* screw on your new lens hood
* profit!!!
This works because the hard-plastic ring of the rubber lens hood is usually threaded on the front to accept 40.5mm accessories. When you turn it around, it will screw right onto the "hidden" threads of the Ikonta lens.
Fantastic news for me. The big Tessar is a lovely uncoated thing, and for best results I like to shield her from flare. You wouldn't believe the number of empty pill bottles I've cut up trying to make a good lens hood!
Finally I'm off the pill bottles. From now on, I'm carrying a rubber!
